Aquarius season has arrived, and with it a shift to the Aquarian energy of entrepreneurial creativity, ingenuity, innovation, and progress. Happy birthday season to the Aquarians out there!
Aquarius, the water-bearer, blooms halfway through the first month of the new year, a sign that follows the pragmatic and motivated Capricorn with a fresh, unique, and more philosophical approach to our current reality and what we now are ready to change. Aquarius has a rebellious spirit that encourages thinking outside the box and taking radical steps into authentic alignment. It’s time to get imaginative, idealistic, and forward-thinking.

AQUARIUS IN FLOWERS
In translating Aquarius into flowers, I was inspired to channel this sign into an energetic and yet harmonious contrasting palette of light lavender blues and warm coppery reds that reflect Aquarius’ zest, humanitarian love, and wild and willful ways. I used fizzy textures of limonium and allium that represent Aquarius’ airy nature, lightness, and movement — also including the quirky puffs of clematis pods for additional uniqueness — and a bold contrast in hearty red ranunculus paired with abundant and airy lavender sweet peas. What emerged was a floral arrangement of Aquarian cool, calm, and eccentric fireworks.

AQUARIUS SEASON TIPS
Aquarius is known to be progressive, independent, idealistic, creative, intellectual, eccentric, and free-spirited. Aquarius season often brings with it a restlessness to shed the old way and an inventive urge to approach things differently. Check in with yourself, and create space for journaling or a mindfulness practice of choice that allows you to do some soul searching. Is there a new skill you feel excited to learn? Is there a way to shake up your approach to work or design to freshen things up or invite a better flow?
Give yourself room to explore, and also balance yourself with normal self-care, housekeeping, and routine. You might find these everyday to-dos extra uninteresting during Aquarius season, but they will keep you grounded as you get inventive elsewhere. Overall, if you notice things feeling too rigid, give yourself room to explore and play. That is where new creative sparks and bright new ideas are born.
TAROT OF FLOWERS & AQUARIUS
In the Tarot of Flowers, Aquarius is associated with Water Lily, which is the Major Arcana card for The Star. Here is an excerpt from the Tarot of Flowers booklet giving insights into this flower and card:
“Dreamy and luminous, the star-like Water Lily floats peacefully on the glassy, inverted skies of water, while its roots hold the deep and murky mud below. This hopeful flower of renewal is grounded in the fertile world of earthly practicality while also free to bloom like an awakening on the water’s surface.
[...]
Water Lily brings with it the ease of rest and regeneration, especially after harsh or jarring experiences you may have recently faced. Now is a moment for reflection and connection with what nurtures you and fills you with light. Be on the lookout for experiences of synchronicity, moments of perfect timing or helpful messages from unexpected places.
[...]
Everything you need can be found within you, although it may take moving through some turbulence and discomfort to realize it. Practice mindfulness, invite grace, and allow serenity to unfold. "
